CULTURE AND THE TRADITION OF ART

Children should first be taught the art of drawing before learning how to write. He will then have a beautiful formed hand.
                                                                                   - Gandhiji.
Can we have an art form standardized for the whole world? Is it possible to neglect the fact that every form of art is influenced by nationalism?
Art is as old as man. Every individual has an inborn crave to express his passion. People belonging to different countries have different ways of life and culture, hence different art forms. Art is influenced by the ideals of a country .It  is said that culture is the soul of a nation and art is the part of culture.
How is Indian art different from Western art? What qualities in it make us call it Indian? If we make a deep and comparative study of these two forms of art, i.e. Indian and Western, we can have a clear picture.
Art is the iconic symbol of the life and culture of a State. It  reflects the feelings and growth of the State. Art forms reflect the ideals of the State, It is well known that  Indian culture gives importance to spiritualism whereas Western to materialism. In India art and religion are the two sides of the same coin. Indian art aims at the welfare of all. Indian thought is different from  European thought.  Accordingly,  Indian art form is different from European art.
Drawing is a talent. Everyone cannot master it. Only a few children can learn it. One has to inherit it….. These are some notions among the masses for centuries. Drawing is not a specialized talent. It is only the expression  of hidden, sensible or non-sensible thoughts that every individual cherishes since childhood. It is also a way of consoling oneself. Every child tries to expose itself to the world. If a careful study of such drawing is made, we can understand the child , the future citizen of the country. Drawing by children can  be a tool to understand their  psychology.

  WHAT IS OUR DUTY?
The knowledge of understanding an art form does not come to us automatically.  We have to develop it. The uniqueness of our national art has to be popularized. The aim of the Swadeshi Movement was not only to drive the British out from India, but it also aimed at the renaissance of our culture and art forms.“ In the hands of the foreigners, our culture has been completely  shattered. So, our culture needs to be revitalized. For this,  the British have to be driven out,” said Jawaharlal Nehru. The word Swadeshi includes the national culture, and art is a mirror which reflects culture.
Thousands of foreign tourists and artists, who visit India, are dumbfounded at the drawings and the sculpture in our country. They get greatly inspired. Unfortunately, we Indians lack  interest  in these art forms. We have to get the knowledge of these art forms only through European writings. This trend has to change. Our national art has to be revived.

A nation’s greatness does not depend on its economic strength or the military strength. Fine arts, literature, music. sculpture and folklore depict the greatness of the culture of a country. During the Stone-age, Man’s only aim was to survive .But even in those days he used to draw figures on the walls of the caves in which he lived.  If foreigners respect India it is only because of its grand cultural tradition. In 1997, France and America held India Festivals, in which models of Indian dams or the Vaijayanth Tanks were not exhibited. There in the India Festivals, Indian Dance, Indian Music and Indian Fine Arts were showcased. A country’s spirit is expressed only through art and literature. Governments and the general public are to encourage such literature and art forms.
With all these points in view, SHREE CHAKRAPANI SCHOOL OF ART has been founded to nurture the art of painting among children and guide them properly.
It is rightly said that the true aim of education is the all-round development of a child. When we speak about all-round development, it is very clear that co-curricular activities are as important as the curricular activities.  Creative subjects like drawing, sports, literature and dance can refine a child’s emotional aspects, thus developing in them good values like generosity and humanitarianism. Education does not mean studying some text books within the four walls of a classroom. Naturally a child does not enjoy it. But art and sports are the innate curiosity in a child. Naturally he has a thirst for it.  It is a pity that today in our schools art is not given due importance.  That is why the parents of the school-going children look for Art schools. In such art schools, art is taught as the main subject.
When there is good encouragement from the society to develop various talents in children, there will be no dearth of resource persons. Hidden talents in the children will be identified and recognized, resulting in increasing the number of talented personalities in the society. Such an atmosphere will be a model for others to copy. Continuous encouragement for these talents will help us to better the society, and the institute which does this work will be recognized by all.
With the aim of recognizing the students interested in painting, and fostering them, SHREE CHAKRAPANI SCHOOL OF ART was founded at Attavara, in Mangalore, in 2003. Supported by Suresh K.Pandavarakallu This school of arts has been training students of the locality in painting. Through teaching the art of painting, students are infused with self-confidence, patience and concentration of mind. Here students get training from experienced and talented teachers.
A number of talents in our society remain unrecognized or unnoticed. But it is the natural tendency in every individual that his or her talent be recognized by all. Sri Suresh k pandavarakallu  has been striving to recognize such talented artists for the last 10 years. The school  has arranged  six State level painting competitions, CHIGURU, for Primary and High School students six times and abut 300 child prodigies have been recognized.. Thus, giving the child prodigies ample publicity in the media and helping them get recognition in the society is our primary aim.
National level painting workshop, painting exhibition and South India level Painting competition 2011 have been arranged in Mangalore at the prestigious Hotel Deepa Comforts, on  12 of August 2011.

SHREE CHAKRAPANI FINE ARTS AND EDUCATIONAL TRUST ®   has been functioning under the able leadership of MR.Suresh K.Pandavarakallu   and with the backing of a few enthusiastic young artists . The school, whose aim is to develop painting, a valuable form of art, needs to be encouraged by the Governments, various institutions and the generous public through sponsoring and generous donations. Only with the generous help from all, the school can achieve its goals.

Art helps in developing an individual’s personality. When a school-going child gets education in arts, he grows emotionally as well as intellectually and he moves towards perfection . A person who was very much interested in art since his childhood and who, after his higher education in art, chose the profession of an art teacher, Mr Suresh K Pandavarakallu is the Founder President of this School. He could answer all the challenges he had to face in his life successfully.  Founding a school of art has been his greatest dream. He was able to unite some young artists and founded the school. With the support of Shri Chakrapani Fine Arts and Educational Trust, Mr. Suresh has been striving hard to enable the youth face challenges successfully and thereby become responsible citizens.

“A nation does not become great by its population or by the extent of its territory. It attains greatness only through its arts and culture.
“India by its diversity, is the spectrum of the world.
“Void of these colourful birds, trees, Nature, animals, plants, our life would be dull and colourless.”
                                               Jawaharlal Nehru.
